The Deaf Society supports Deaf people in Northern NSW through our Northern NSW office. The Northern NSW office covers the area from Taree (in the south) to Tweed Heads (in the north) and out to the New England region (in the west). Services from our Northern NSW office are currently expanding to cover more areas in Northern NSW, as required.

Northern NSW services include regional development, outreach work, case management, advocacy, communication support, information and referral. Auslan courses and Deafness Awareness training are available on a fee-for-service basis.

A Drop In service is available at:

• the office in Lismore on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am - 1:00pm, and other times by appointment
• in Tweed Heads (at the Tweed Centro Shopping Centre Food Court, South Tweed Heads) starting at 10am on the third Thursday of each month.

The Deaf Society's Northern NSW office also works with various local service providers, special interest groups and community organisations.

Events The Deaf Society supports Deaf community events in the local regions. Regular local events include:

• family social days on the first Sunday of each month - location varies
• office morning teas once a month from 10am to 12pm - days vary
• Tweed social nights on the fourth Friday of every month at Twin Towns Club starting 7pm
• Tweed Drop In morning tea at Tweed City Shopping Centre (food court) every third Thursday of the month starting 10am
• Deaf coffee morning at Café Campanille at Robina Town Centre on the Gold Coast on the first Monday of every month starting at 10am (QLD time)
• regular community BBQs in Port Macquarie, Lismore, Coffs Harbour, Tweed Heads and Tamworth
• "Auslan Only Weekend" which is a voice off weekend held on the North Coast every year
