"The Deaf Society of NSW Interpreting Service (SLC) has been of great assistance and support to myself and our organisation over the past year and continues to be always there for any thing that we ask of them. Our Organisation has Recruited Deaf Care workers to provide services for our Deaf and Deaf/Blind clients the SLC team has provided us with the best suited interpreters from the start of our Recruitment process, interviews and then for the successful applicants the interpreters were there for days of training, interpreting many policies and procedures and also manual handling training with Occupational Therapists for the new Careworkers. There is also the ongoing support needed from the interpreters they are there for all the care worker team meetings and individual Support and Supervisions and any other Team event that may occur.

"I have used this interpreting service intensively for my various professional and personal needs. I highly recommend their services - the Interpreting in-house staff are very patient, professional and prompt especially with a number of meetings that were cancelled or postponed at a very short notice. Sometimes the task of interpreter is a very intimidating one, in order to do the best job we can, we sometimes need to make ourselves very vulnerable. "As a recently qualified interpreter I was nervous and apprehensive about the thought of walking into my first job, even though I’d had a lot of classroom training I was scared about starting out. The John Ferris Internship Program is one of the best journeys I have ever been on. The variety of jobs I was exposed to, the different Deaf people that I met and all the different areas that I worked in is incredible. And knowing that there is a mentor with me every step of the way who will make sure that I won’t drown is a safety net that anyone can appreciate. A mentor that won’t let you make any terrible mistakes and will provide you with detailed feedback afterwards.
