Definition: Oath
Oath
An oath is a promise to tell the truth because you believe in God. If you are asked to answer questions in the witness box, you will be asked if you want to make an oath or affirmation. You can choose to make an oath or an affirmation. An affirmation is a promise to tell the truth without belief in God or a religious belief.
