Bond This is a promise the defendant makes to the court that they will follow certain rules (conditions) for a period of time. The conditions are decided by the court. One condition might be that the defendant has to meet with a probation or parole officer. If you are given a bond by the court it is important that you understand it because breaking a bond condition is serious. You can talk to the court staff or your solicitor if you do not understand the bond conditions.
