Appeal If you are a defendant / respondent and you are not happy with the magistrate's decision on your case, you can challenge the decision. This is an appeal. It means you are asking a higher court to listen to your case again. You need to talk to your solicitor or ask the court staff if you want to make an appeal. There is usually a court fee to pay and there is a time limit of 28 days from the date of sentencing to submit a form to appeal to the District Court.
