The Deaf Society believes it is just as important to offer support and information to parents as to their children.

The Deaf Society is in a unique position to offer specialist support, information, programs and advice to Deaf and hearing parents and their children. Our programs cater for deaf children and CODAs (Children of Deaf Adults).

The Deaf Society provides bi-lingual - Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and English support services for families including:

• One to one basic casework support to assist Deaf people and their families
• Parenting education programs and seminars
• Parent to Parent Mentoring
• Home Visiting - information & support for parents of newly diagnosed deaf children
• Youth Group
• Sign’N’Tots Auslan Playgroup
• Baby Cry Alarm Borrowing Scheme
• Drop In service for initial information, referral and support and understanding English forms and letters
• Advocacy

The Deaf Society hosts a range of out of school, weekend and holiday activities such as our Family Day held in May each year as well as age targeted activities for young people. We can also give you information on Deaf community events, sporting groups and clubs for young people to join.
