| Job Capacity Assessment (JCA) |
|
The Job Capacity Assessment is an assessment, or a set of questions that Centrelink will ask you, before they refer you to our service (or another).
The JCA may be conducted at a Centrelink office, or by another agency. The JCA is used by Centrelink to determine: |
- if you are eligible or not for a government allowance (Newstart, Youth Allowance, etc) or a pension
- if you must look for work or not
- how many hours a week you are expected to work now
- how many hours a week you are expected to work in the future
- what agency is the best one to help you
- how long will your agency help you for
- what types of help you may need
- the kind of help you will need after you have started a new job
This is why it is very important you have an interpreter if you need one, or that you go with someone who understands your communication needs and any other needs you may have when you start working in open employment. To book an interpreter, click here.
