Conditions of Enrolment

Concessions:
Concession fees - IF available - are shown on this website and in DEN brochures for community courses and in the relevant Course Information Guide for accredited courses. To receive a concession, you must provide either proof of having a current Health Care Card or a letter from Centrelink confirming that you are unemployed or receiving a FULL pension at the time of enrolling. Concessions are only granted at time of enrolment and limited to one per term per individual.

Privacy Policy:
The Deaf Society of NSW and Deaf Education Network (as the education division of DSNSW) acknowledge and respect the privacy of individuals. Information about students, including information submitted on enrolment forms will be used by the Deaf Society, Deaf Education Network and/or other authorised organisations for the purposes of general student administration, communication, state and national reporting, program monitoring and evaluation. The information may be disclosed to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) and/or an agency authorised to undertake surveys. The provision of this information is necessary for both enrolment and re-enrolment. Information provided will be held securely and disposed of securely when no longer needed. You may access your personal information by contacting Deaf Education Network.

The Deaf Society may be required to pass information collected to Government entities as required by laws and statutes.

Provision of Certificates and Statements:
A Statement of Attendance will be provided for all community courses. To qualify for the statement, you must attend at least 80% of the course. Certificates, Transcripts and Statements of Attainment for accredited courses will be provided in accordance with competencies achieved by each student. An $25 fee will be charged for requests to reprint Certificates, Transcripts or Statements.

Pricing:
Many of the courses in this brochure are government-subsidised. Prices listed apply to Australian citizens and permanent residents only. If you are NOT a citizen or permanent resident of Australia, contact Deaf Education Network for further information and relevant prices.

GST:
All courses advertised on this website and in Deaf Education Network brochures are GST-free unless otherwise stated.

Receipts:
We will post you a Tax Invoice when we receive your enrolment. The Tax Invoice serves as your receipt and confirmation. If you do not receive your Tax Invoice, please contact the Deaf Education Network office to check on your enrolment. If you wish to confirm that your course is going ahead, please call Deaf Education Network one working day before the course begins. Final confirmation is your responsibility. An $11 fee will be charged for requests to reprint receipts. An administrative charge of $22 will be incurred each time a payment is dishonoured.

Refunds:
Refunds for community courses
: Please choose carefully as we cannot accept responsibility for changes in your personal circumstances. However:

  • A FULL REFUND will be given if Deaf Education Network cancels a course.
  • A refund, less a $20 administration fee, will be given if students give written notice of withdrawal at least seven days prior to the commencement of the course (at least 28 days for residential programs).
  • You may transfer between courses, provided that you give us written notice at least seven days before the course starts (at least 28 days for residential programs). Each transfer will incur a $20 administration fee.

No transfers or refunds will otherwise be given.

Refunds for accredited programs: Before you enrol, please see the Course Information Guide for the course you want to undertake.

Code of Conduct:
Deaf Education Network reserves the right to remove from class, students who do not abide by Deaf Education Network's Student Code of Conduct.

We also reserve the right to refuse enrolment.
