Funding for Deaf Community Centres

Funding, from a total provision of $100,000, is available to support the establishment of viable Deaf Community Centres.

ALL applications for funding must be supported by members of the Deaf Community and/or members of the Deaf Society.

Guidelines for applying for funding
All applications must include the following information:

Evidence of support for the proposal from members of the Deaf Community and/or members of the Deaf Society
Budget - some of the items may include:
 

 

 

What it will cost to run the Centre (expenditure)

 
  • Salaries and wages
  • Rent
  • Electricity
  • Rates
  • Insurance
  • Provisions (food / drink)
  • Equipment - computer, fax, coffee machine, cash register, bar equipment
  • Telephone / fax access
  • Advertising / marketing of the centre
   
  How will the Centre make money (income)
 
  • Membership fees
  • Room hiring fees
  • Sale of food and drink
   
How the Centre will be managed - paid and voluntary
How the Centre will be staffed - paid and voluntary
Timeline for establishment of the Centre, including incorporation of the committee, set up times, hiring of staff, equipment, etc.

Successful applications will have to sign an agreement with the Board of Directors of the Deaf Society.
