Funding for Deaf Community Centres

Guidelines for applying for funding

1.

In 1997, the Board of the Deaf Society of NSW (DSNSW) made a provision of $100,000 towards the establishment of viable Deaf Community Centre(s).

2.

Funding, from a total provision of $96,800 is available as at 1 July 2011.

3.

Applications for funding may be made by incorporated associations.

4.

Applications for funding must be supported by members of the Deaf Community and members of the DSNSW.

5.

Applications must include the following information:

 

a)

Evidence of support from members of the Deaf Community and members of the DSNSW for the proposal, including details of community ownership.
 

b)

Business Plan to prove sustainability.  This Plan should include:

Budget projections for income and expenditure for three (3) years.
How the Centre(s) will be managed (paid and voluntary)
How the Centre(s) will be staffed (paid and voluntary)

The percentage of contribution sought

 

c)

A project management plan, including timelines for establishment of the centre(s), incorporation of the committee (if required), hiring of staff and equipment, etc.

6.

The DSNSW does not guarantee that applications will be funded.

7.

Approved applications will be subject to legal agreements between parties.

8.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Deaf Society of NSW is available to meet with prospective applicants for discussions about the application process.
