ASLIA (NSW) is the state branch of the Australian Sign Language Interpreter's Association. Our web site has information about our aims and history as an organisation, as well as some of the benefits of becoming a member. The membership form also provides information about our general meetings to which first time visitors are especially welcome.
If you are interested in becoming an interpreter, we also provide information about Auslan/English interpreting as a career, and the options available to you in NSW to becoming qualified or improving your level of qualification. Of particular importance to the profession of interpreting is the Code of Ethics which define professional practice for all members of ASLIA.
Although the list is not exhaustive, some of the major employers of Auslan/English interpreters are also provided.
If you are looking to book an interpreter, Auslan/English interpreters can be booked though a number of interpreting organisations depending on the situation. It will also be useful to read our guidelines on working with interpreters.
And finally, please contact us if you have any questions or any suggestions for our developing web site.
