The Deaf Society of New South Wales was founded in 1913 in response to the needs of Deaf people who used sign language as their primary means of communication. It was incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee in 1922 and is a registered charity. To see more about our history, click here.
The Deaf Society believes that Deaf people should enjoy the same political, civil and human rights as other members of the community and we work with the Deaf Community to secure these rights.
Mission We work in partnership with the Deaf Community to enhance the quality of life of deaf people, strengthen the community and advocate for changes that will ensure fundamental rights and freedoms.
